Ontario Liberals Launch Petition Demanding Ford Government Come Clean on Secret Air Rights Settlement

 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

28 May 2026

QUEEN’S PARK, ON — The Ontario Liberal Caucus has launched a new petition calling on Doug Ford’s government to disclose the full value of a secret taxpayer-funded settlement involving air rights near Union Station and a company linked to longtime Ford associate Carmine Nigro.

Public reporting has revealed that Craft Kingsmen Rail (East) Corp. pursued hundreds of millions of dollars in compensation related to the expropriation of air rights. Despite repeated questions, both the Minister of Transportation and the Premier’s Office have refused to disclose how much taxpayers paid to settle the claim.

“The government knows the number. Ontarians don’t,” said Ontario Liberal Interim Leader John Fraser. “When taxpayer dollars are handed out behind closed doors to people with close political connections, the public has a right to know how much and why.”

The petition calls on the Ford government to release the full value of the settlement, disclose all non-privileged records related to its negotiation and approval, and strengthen transparency requirements for future taxpayer-funded settlements.

Ontarians can sign the petition and demand answers from Doug Ford’s government at: ontarioliberal.ca/petition/the-air-rights-scandal/
