Ontario Liberal Caucus Concludes Kingston Retreat with Renewed Focus on Affordability and Opportunity

TORONTO, ON – The Ontario Liberal Caucus has concluded a productive retreat in Kingston, setting clear priorities for the upcoming legislative session and renewing its commitment to delivering practical results for Ontarians.

Caucus members gathered in MPP Ted Hsu’s home riding of Kingston and the Islands, meeting with students at Queen’s University concerned about changes to tuition and OSAP, visiting the Royal Canadian Legion, connecting with an Indigenous Friendship Centre, and joining Ontario Liberals from across Eastern Ontario for a community pub night.

“It was wonderful to be in Kingston, where it’s clear constituents are being well represented by Ted Hsu,” said Interim Leader John Fraser. “We heard directly from students, veterans, and community leaders about the pressures they’re facing — and their expectation that government step up.”

Fraser contrasted that approach with the current government.

“Doug Ford keeps telling people not to believe what they see and feel — that everything is fine,” Fraser said. “But families know the reality. They see rising costs, strained health care, and fewer opportunities for young people. Instead of dismissing those concerns, we’re offering honest leadership — listening and working on real solutions.”

Fraser said the caucus leaves Kingston focused and optimistic.

“Ontario deserves more than cuts and decline. We’re doing the work — listening to what people are experiencing and developing practical, compassionate solutions that expand opportunity: the chance to get an education, find good work, afford a home, and build a safe, healthy community.”

“As we head into our leadership race and the next session, we’re doing the heavy lifting to earn people’s confidence and build a stronger Ontario. Change is in the air — and we’re ready.”
