TORONTO – Steven Del Duca, Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, issued the following statement:
“Today’s Speech from the Throne once again demonstrates how the federal government is filling a leadership void left by Doug Ford.”
“Instead of investing in Ontarians and a safe reopening, Doug Ford has left the heavy lifting to the federal government. A recent report from the Ontario Financial Accountability Office (FAO) found for every 97 cents the federal government has spent, Doug Ford has spent 3 pennies. He is refusing to spend billions in federal funding that could be deployed now to lower class sizes or reduce testing lines.”
“There is no Ford plan for the economy, no Ford plan for seniors, and no Ford plan for healthcare. Instead, Doug Ford is continuing his photo-op circus by rolling out a series of half baked announcements divorced from any cohesive second wave plan .”
“Yesterday, he announced 5.1 million flu vaccines for 14.7 million Ontarians. His flu vaccination plan was built to fail.”
“The federal speech from the throne contained a number of initiatives Doug Ford cancelled. The Federal government is bringing back the energy retrofit program Ford eliminated. And it is creating a new federal clean technology fund after Doug Ford scrapped Ontario’s.”
“Doug Ford needs to do more to restart Ontario’s economy. What we’ve seen so far just isn’t good enough.”
