Julie Lutete, President of the Coalition of Black Francophones and Executive Director of Auberge Francophonie, Officially Nominated as the Ontario Liberal Candidate for Etobicoke North

ETOBICOKE, ON – Julie Lutete, President of the Coalition of Black Francophones and Executive Director of Auberge Francophonie, has been officially nominated as the Ontario Liberal candidate for Etobicoke North.

“Doug Ford has failed the people of Etobicoke North. After seven years with Ford as their MPP, one in four residents don’t have access to a family doctor, and too many are struggling with the rising cost of living.

“Julie Lutete fights every day for families in Etobicoke North and la Francophonie across Ontario, advocating for better access to healthcare, affordable housing, and real relief from Ford’s cost of living crisis.

“Julie is ready to take on Doug Ford, hold him accountable for neglecting the people of Etobicoke North, and fight for a brighter future. I’m delighted to announce that Julie Lutete has been officially nominated as your Ontario Liberal candidate for Etobicoke North!”

— Bonnie Crombie, Leader of Ontario’s Liberals

“Every day, I work with families in Etobicoke North who desperately need access to healthcare, affordable housing, and quality public transportation. Many of them trusted Doug Ford to deliver these investments.

“Instead, as Premier, Ford has turned his back on the community he was elected to represent — blowing our tax dollars on a luxury spa downtown and booze in convenience stores. No wonder one in four residents of our community don’t have access to a family doctor.

“It’s time to send Doug Ford a message. As MPP, I’ll make sure Etobicoke North isn’t ignored. I’ll fight to ensure we have access to the quality services, affordable rent, and healthcare we need.”

— Julie Lutete, Ontario Liberal Candidate for Etobicoke North

Throughout her life, Julie Lutete overcame adversity to fight for Etobicoke. Growing up in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Julie came to Canada to care for her dying sister. Facing discrimination, she resolved to fight for more equitable and accessible public services.

Thanks to Julie, the first French Health Services Centre in Ontario was opened in Etobicoke. As President of Ontario’s Black Francophone Umbrella Organization (La Coalition des Noir Francophone de l’Ontario) and the Executive Director of Auberge Francophone, she helps fight for affordable housing and healthcare for Etobicoke North and communities across the province.
